What Does The Future Hold

It's been a couple of weeks since I last blogged but as they say in the movies...the show must go on. As a matter of fact the show never stops. My head is full of information and just when I think it can't take anymore...I think my brain cells start to move over.

I am loaded with more websites than I know what to do with and can possibly get a handle on. This week alone I joined at least 15 recruiting groups and 10 job boards...and let's not even begin to think about the email addresses. Don't ask me why but I went there.

Sometimes I feel like a kid in a candy shop or I feel like I've just arrived in Vegas. I get so excited with all the glitz and glamour. It's like those ads and sites are talking to me. I can't resist and I think...ok "I'll just take a brief peek". And of course I find myself getting interested and excited about my new found site and all of the other sites embedded in the articles. It's like when you're really hungry and you start eating a piece of juicy fruit. You know the kind...you take a bite and the juice runs down your arm, and face, and your mouth is so full you can't talk...

With the workload that I have - reading, and wading through the waters of the super-information-cyber highway is like being 10 miles out to sea...alone and with no life preserve...how on earth am I ever going to swim to shore...

Did you ever wonder how we ever got along without computers. Our ancestors would be amazed. I mean...horse and buggy days are long gone...word of mouth took weeks and sometimes months...I imagine it was a great day in history when newspaper became the media of choice...(and let's not get started on the newspaper of choice). I mean for a long time there were no televisions...no phones...definitely no cell phones...how different will the speed of information be when we are no longer here. I mean think about it...The Jetsons entertained some of us for years and isn't it amazing what someone's foreward thinking showed us. We never thought....

Sooooooooo...does this mean that if the information highway continues to progress and feed us insurmountable information that our reading skills will improve...our intake of information will advance way beyond any other group we've encountered. Or...will we all go completely bunkers over all of those websites, network groups...newpaper choices...

Oh...Oh...I got it...we will be like the commercial where the pregnant lady sings to the tune of whatever words her friend says because she is suffering from search overload...uh...you never know.

Blog...Blog...Blog...

Sunday evening, as soon as I finished writing my last blog I saw this other site called Hubpages and decided to see what was happening with that site...you know what it was all about. Well, here's what I discovered. It's another site to write blogs so you guessed it. I'm now a hubber...hmmm...another username, another password.

So I got to thinking - maybe I'll try it. I like other things...so I put a list together to see what I wanted to write about. Ok - one of my favorites "Genealogy" - "Family History"...And you guessed it - MORE WEB SITES!!!!!!

You know Cyndi's List has over 200, 000 website links on her page and that's just a portion of genealogy sites. Can you imagine how crazy I must be right now??????

I also had to check on a college website that I subscribed to because I want to post a job right? - Well you guessed it - more sites...man oh man. I feel like Rip Van Winkle - sleep for twenty years and just wokeup to a whole new world - job board explosion!! Geeeeeezzzzzzzzzzz.

Am I addicted to finding websites and trying to capture information on each...maybe this is my botox...you know some people can never have enough botox or plastic or lipo...or whatever it is they always seem to get into...maybe I can never have enough sites. I know...I know...maybe there is a disorder...let's see...cyberitis...a person that is always compelled to look at all sites that one see on the net...or any place...well since no one has been willing to come forward that is suffering from this disorder but me...it's just a matter of time before the explosion of cyberitis takes a hold of the country....will it be an inherited disease or an acquired disease? Will it be curable or terminal...right now I feel terminal. I can't stop...or maybe it will be put in the addiction category...right now I am helpless to cybertisis...as of tonight I located more websites...websites for recruiters...websites for jobseekers...a brave new world...

There's fasthire.com, breaktheglassceiling.com, oh yeah, asktherecruiter.com. All of these sites lead to more sites...You get the picture. Don't you?

Blog...blog...blog...

What I Know For Sure

Last night as I "surfed" the net those websites just kept coming. And every site (no punt intended) you see you have to read to learn about them. Now we have the Web 2.0, social marketing, SEO - you know it's like that song that Sonny & Cher sang "The Beat Goes On".

Wow "surfing the net" - thank goodness we get to keep our feet safely on the ground because in the real world how many of us really surf...um on the water that is.

Anyway - back to the real stuff here...You know collecting websites (tho unintentional) lends itself to (at some point) coming across a children's site or two...so for parents - here's one for you...well actually two (smile). I hear or better yet read somewhere that zoodles is an exceptional children's site and you can add Kidoz as well but be sure to sit with your child or children to discover what the sites are all about. I just knew that you would appreciate my mentioning more sites for you but the way I figured was if I have to be subjected to the overwhelming information on the web...I might as well share the wealth. -Would you?-

So "Here's What I Know For Sure" - did Oprah coin that phrase? Anyway, I know that I have no idea how many websites, and blogs are out there but it must be well into the millions and there never seems to be an end to what you can find. Except when it comes to finding that one ancestor - it's called hitting the brick wall. I think that it might be the only wall there is on the "super highway."

The Internet - How Overwhelmed Are You

The past two weeks have been very interesting and an eye opener. I just realized that the internet can be very overwhelming and if you are like me you see something - a new site - a new company - a new idea, whatever it is and you will want to check it out.

I became a distributor for an MLM and received some good support. The support has been so good I have been referred to many free sites to either become part of a network or several networks, free advertising, free leads, free...free...free. And the more you are directed to free stuff you want to check it all out. Before you know it you have so many websites, possibly so many accounts, so many passwords, that you need someone to help you organize all of your information. It's mind boggling.

Oh and did I mention being a recruiter will guarantee you more websites to check out. There's Craigslist, Elance, Indeed, Monster, Job.com, Kijiji, careerbuilder, you have your niche sites, your diversity sites and it seems to all go on until eternity. What to do with all of this information?

I mean, come on people, am I the only one feeling overwhelmed here!

Well, I guess I have another project to add to the many projects that I already have. My goal is to see if I can figure out a way to organize all of this information, all of these sites.

Whoever coined the phrase "super highway" was not kidding. Whew!!!

Write me back and let me know what you think.
